Lunch and Learn: Counting Ballots: Municipal considerations in response to Bill 20

  • 13 Jun 2024
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • Online (Zoom)

Registration

Bill 20 has been passed by the Legislature and is awaiting Royal Assent. If it is proclaimed before the next general municipal election (October 2025), election clerks will be required to count ballots without the use of voting machines, vote recorders, automated voting systems or tabulators.

Municipalities whose electorate votes for councillors for the whole municipality may wish to consider the division of their municipality into wards as a means of simplifying vote counting.

Join us during this lunch and learn session as we explore the requirements for the division of a municipality into wards, timing considerations and other practical concerns.

This session will be presented by Gwendolyn Stewart-Palmer, KC of Shores Jardine LLP.

This event is free to AMCA members and will run June 13 between noon and 1pm.

A Zoom link will be sent to registrants closer to the session.
